Robert, unfortunately yes the lite models have a plastic grip frame, that's how they're so lite. I'm not finding anyone having any type of issues due to the plastic grip frame. Can definitely be disheartening to buy a gun and find parts made of plastic but in my experience unless they're important parts like triggers, receivers there's nothing to worry about. Since it's just the grip/trigger guard don't foresee any issues. Sorry but hope this helps.
