It is a viable choice Shaun. Lead buckshot will do but you will get better results with copper plated buckshot (less deformation and better patterns).

It has killed many deer in the south especilly in the 3 inch 20 but the 2 3/4 will do just fine also just pattern you gun to see what Buck it shoots best
