When shooting longs and shorts in this rifle, do you have to cycle the action manually or does a 22long/22short either one, have enough blowback gas to cycle the auto action without help?

It functions (you do not have to cycle the bolt) with all 3 short long and LR that is one of the selling point on this rifle.

No manual cycling needed on this one William! The Model 552 BDL Speedmaster is the only American made 22 autoloader that handles 22 short, 22 long, and 22 long rifle cartridges interchangeably.  Holds (15 round capacity .22 Long Rifle), (17 round capacity .22 Long) and 20 round capacity .22 Short.
