Thomas, technically yes, this will fire .22 shorts, but there may be a feeding issue from the magazine designed for .22lr. Some bolt actions might feed them ok, some won't. Then there is the issue of lead build up at the beginning of the rifling, and also a build up of fouling crud where the .22 short case ends. This might make chambering .22lr rounds more difficult until the chamber is scrubbed out. You'd have to shoot many rounds to notice though. Stay safe & have a great day!

Thomas, yes sir, this will fire 22long and 22 short safely. As mentioned since it's fed from a detachable magazine it might have feeding problems but most likely won't run into any issues. Hope this helps.
