John, depends on what you plan on using it for. The 454 casull fires heavier projectiles with higher velocity and pressure. So if I was hunting bear I'd want the 454 casull. For deer sized game and smaller 44 mag is plenty and honestly probably enough for most bear but rather be safe than sorry. The 454 casull will also have more recoil. The 44 mag isnt bad, with the 454 casull your shoulder will likely be sore after couple shots. The 454 is going to have a little more knockdown power. Again just depends on what you plan to use it for. Hope this helps.
