Hi Joseph and welcome. Bond Arms recommends Standard pressure ammunition only due to safety and warranty reasons : https://www.bondarms.com/Assets/ProductDocumentation/InstructionManualDERRINGERbiggerfont0323online.pdf - Cheers and stay safe!
In a barrel this short, the extra powder of +P won't be burned and will only give excessive recoil and muzzle flash with no real performance increase. Cheers and stay safe!
It can tolerate +p, but that is unnecessary in a rifle round that was adopted by the military.
I could never find any specific manufactures information on the Cyclops in 45-70. What was found was off their website YouTube videos. What they did say is that by going with a single barrel design and lowering the center of gravity, they were able to make the pistol much more controllable in larger calibers like the 45-70. Utilizing their new synthetic grip material verses wood designs that were prone to failures, has allow them to build into the 1,900, 2,000 and 2,100 FPS range per Gordon Bond during a SHOT Show interview. The 45-70 though is most comfortable shot in the 1,400 FPS range with Federal ammo. The only specifics I heard was Federal ammo at 1,400 FPS loads.
