Will this ammo bne safe in my 1870's trap door rifle? I cannot shoot any ammo that is more powerful than the old black powder 405 grain bullet.

Underwood is high performance ammo.  I wouldn't.

Hi Larry and welcome. Please do not use this as it is High Performance (loaded Hot) and is Muzzle Velocity: 1550 fps & 
Muzzle Energy: 2294 ft/lbs out of a handgun and would be loaded too hot for your 1870's trap door rifle. Cheers and stay safe!

Here's what you'd want to use.
45-70 Government 405 grain RNFP

This load was developed with the 1873 "Trapdoor" Springfield in mind, but is a great option for any rifle (or revolver) chambered in 45/70. These projectiles are cast from a softer alloy that is ideal for the lower pressure and velocity of a proper Trapdoor load.
