CVA Scout V2 .44 Rifle
Hi Dan and welcome. No, a 444 Marlin is NOT just an elongated 44 Mag, even though they use the same bullets. The tapered chamber of the 444 will not support the base of a 44 Mag case. Don't do it. 44 Mag. or Special round can be chambered in a . 444 Marlin action, but the handgun cartridges are quite a bit shorter than the rifle cartridge, leaving ample space for the bullet to bounce around in the chamber and cause mischief before engaging the rifling. This could substantially damage your rifle. Cheers and stay safe!
