Corey, just up to your preference. You could add iron sights and this red dot or just the red dot. Personally if I'm using the AR for home defense I'd add iron sights just in case something happens to the red dot like the battery needs changed. If it's just for range/fun the red dot is plenty. Hi Corey and welcome. It will match well with flip up Sights. Once sighted in, you can fold down the flip up sights for faster target acquisition with the red dot or you can use both simultaneously since the red dot dot sits on top of the front sight. Cheers and stay safe!
