Hi Jose, Here are all the .308 ammo. Out of them all for defense and hunting I'd go with the HRNDY 308WIN 155GR ELD-M 20/200 just for the fact it ships free and covers what you're looking for. https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/656_2081_10000660/products_id/22923/HRNDY%20308WIN%20155GR%20ELD-M%2020/200/ all .308 ammo >>>>> https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/ammo_search.php/caliber/10000660/v/1/page/1/sort/4d
I do like the Nosler & the SELLIER & BELLOT but they cost alot more and they're out of stock right now. for hunting rounds I usually pick up Remington core lokt at wally world or field and stream Shipping on ammo (unless you buy huge amounts ) is the killer for me They have always worked for me if I do my part with shot placement

Jose, the most versatile dual purpose 308 (and other calibers) has always been a BTSP (Boat Tail Soft Point) load. The best cost point rounds of this type (I usually by the cheapest at the time) are Remington Core-Lokt SP, PMC -150gr BTSP, - Fiocchi BTSP, -Te new "American White Tail SP ammo or Federal Fusion BTSP. The Remington Core's and American above work but are not boat tails. ****Note***** I prefer the BTSP's since they are just as effective up close but retain velocity and energy better at distance to extend your hunting range.
