I used to have a Springfield SOCOM 16; however, had to let it go due to my wife's cancer. I'm looking at the S&W Volunteer 308 trying to save several hundred dollars. Would like to get some honest reviews/inputs on this rifle before purchasing one cash/layaway. I have never bought a S&W rifle before (for your info). Wife is still sick tho.

Hi Richard and welcome. Hope your wife is faring well despite the cancer. I own several S&W Ar's (in 5.56) and all are well made and durable. They are accurate and I expect the .308 to be the same.
