Hi Barry and welcome. There is a sling connection on the lower part of the buttstock. I would replace the handguard with a quad rail : https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/723025444/ar15+quad+rail+7in+2+piece+drop+in -------- and attach a picatinny sling attachment rail : https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/9528/aim+sports+mt029+sling+rail+mount+picatinny+weaver+quick+detach+black+anodized ------------------------ https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/109677/ncstar+aars1pu+sling+single+point+sling+1.50+44-60+urban+gray+nylon+rifle
Unless you'll be attached to the handrail that comes on the M&P I'd go with James' suggestion and install a Quad rail. This way you can attach a front QD (quick Disconnect) sling mount or other accessories you may want like a WML (weapons mounted light).
There is a female QD (Quick Disconnect) on the bottom of the gas block. A male QD from your sling plugs into it. There are numerous different options for the attachment to the stock.
