This holster is for the Springfield XDS Tagua makes one for the 5" 1911 on their website but I was not able to find it here on buds
I think it will be too wide for any 1911
Yes the 1911 will fit in this holster but it was not made for 1911's. In my opinion buy a holster made specifically for the model you will be carrying and just as important one that you are comfortable with.
Even if the pistol physically fit in the holster it was not designed for it so it would not be perfectly safe or recommended. I would recommend buying a holster that was made specifically for your gun.
You should check out the Bianchi Model 75 for Colt 1911. I have one that fits my 5" 1911 perfectly! One tip about those leather holsters. They can be super tight out of the box. The thumb snap on my Bianchi was VERY difficult to snap over the frame of my pistol. To stretch the leather and make the gun slide out of the holster more easily, and to stretch the leather at the thumb snap, I slipped my pistol inside of two zip lock bags, then slid the gun, with the bags around it, into the holster. I folded the plastic bags over the hammer end of the frame, and then (with a lot of forceful stretching and pulling) I snapped the thumb strap, then let it sit in my gun safe for three days. After three days, I removed the gun from the holster, removed the bags, and now the gun slips easily into the holster, and the thumb snap works like a charm.
