I would also say no 45lc /410 derringers have very heavy recoil and are not pleasant to shoot so she will never practice with and and IMO the best defense gun is one you shoot well My wife carries a Taurus 38 special because she shoots it bette than any semi auto we own

Carl, I would not recommend a derringer, especially in 45LC/410. Do you really want her to only have 2 shots to defend herself? I would look at .38sp revolvers or a semi auto in 9mm or .380 depending on her skill, size, ability, etc. If you/she is set on 45LC/410, then the Taurus Judge will give 5 shots instead of 2 (good for home defense, not the best for carry) budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/59353/taurus+public+defender+5rd+2.5 , Stay safe & have a great day!
