Just got a marlin 783 22magnum. I can't get the inner magazine tube to insert over the rounds. Tried a known working tube from another gun same thing. Should I just replace the outer mag tube or is there a fix. I own five tube fed marlins and have never had this issue. Goes down over first round then stops? Doesn't make sense to me.

If thenothermtubes will not insert over ammunition you must have a problem in the outer tube. Best to get a gunsmith to take a peek.

It would be best to have a qualified gunsmith look at it, but it does sound to me like it is the outer tube yes. Sounds to me like the outer tube is a hair smaller in diameter than it should be, hence allowing only the first round to load into the spring tube and then gets jammed. It could also be the spring in the tube as well. Check and make sure that the tube spring is not weak, and try cleaning it as well. There could be dirt, powder residue or oil in the tube that is making it tight as well. Hope this helps.
