If you charged the down payment to your CC you would pay the same 3% non cash fee (on firearms only) there is no cc fee for buying the gift card

I use them as my own little prepaid credit card system buy a gift card every month using my cc (always keep the card paid of) then when something I want comes up I use the gift cards to buy it instead of having a large charge on the card
