yes the mag holds 5 shells

Yes. The manual was wrotten for all sxp models and shows how to remove and install a plug, even if it did come with one.

Hi Ronald, you have to remove then magazine plug to load 5 rounds. "The Super X® Pump shotgun is delivered with the magazine three-shot adaptor (plug) installed in the magazine, limiting magazine capacity to two shells in compliance with federal migratory bird regulations. If you do not wish to be limited to three shots when it is not required by law, you can remove the three-shot adaptor." Stay safe & have a great day!

You may need to remove the tube plug. Very easy to do, then it's 5+1 all day!!!!
