This is a good quality a AR 15 it will serve you will I also suggest the S&W M&P 15 sport 2 as well as the ruger AR 556

Hi Jeremy and welcome. Springfield makes a high quality AR Rifle given the price point and have excellent Customer Service to match. My opinion on order of quality/Customer Service is Springfield, Ruger then Simth and Wesson when it comes to AR's. Cheers and happy holidays!

Springfield Saints are generally considered on the higher end of the quality line. You should not have any issues with using one for any of those purposes. As far as the front gas block/sight post... while you will see it in your field of view, it shouldn't be a problem. That's the standard view all our Soldiers and Marines see with their optics. If you are used to a totally flattop set up you might notice it more, but if this is your first AR then there should be no problem. I'm not 100% sure if all the parts are milsepc, but I believe the ones you want to be interchangeable (bolt carrier group) are. Enjoy!
