Hi Paul, it takes a fair amount of effort to rack the slide. A downside to ultra-compact pistols are the stiff recoil springs necessary to manage cycling the gun in such a small envelope. If you're not comfortable with managing a heavy trigger and snappy recoil, you're probably not going to do well with this one. Stay safe & have a great day!
