it will work just fine with either 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells

Hi Maurice and welcome. It has a 3 inch chamber and will fire both 3 inch and 2 3/4 inch shells no issue. Same concept as a .357 Magnum being able to fire the shorter .38 Special. A particular length chamber can fire that length or shorter shells. Cheers and stay safe!
