Your best bet is to buy your son-in-law a gift card and let him purchase what he wants, have it shipped to his FFL. When you purchase a firearm and have it sent to an FFL YOU are the one who needs to go to fill out the 4473 background check and transfer. This is why I'm suggesting the gift card through Bud's.
