Canik makes pretty nice pistols and Aimpoint makes excellent sights. If you want it then I don't think it's a waste. Though, Aimpoint sights are generally intended to be quite rugged and indestructible to an extent that might be excessive if its intended use is just for a range gun. Other cheaper options might be easier to justify. Also, I'm not aware of Aimpoint product with a green dot, only red.

only you can answer that question. If you like optics it will be a fine combo. I dont like optics on my handguns. I did try them on some of my handguns and took them off

Hi Robert and welcome. No Sir. The Canik Series of pistols are excellent in every aspect. Target, self-defense, competition etc. I own Glocks, S&W's, Beretta's and a plethora of other big brands but, my many Caniks hang in there with the best of them in every aspect. Canik's are a win win every time. AimPoint of other green dot sights will only sweeten the package. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
