It is considered a pistol and is treated like any other handgun except in states that ban specific features such as magazines that attach outside the pistol grip. It becomes an SBR only if you add a stock or AOW if you add some type of vertical foregrip.

It is a Pistol/Handgun as-is and would still be a pistol with a Brace. Addition of a Shoulder Stock would then convert it to an SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) needing NFA registration and payment of a $200 Tax Stamp. Cheers, stay legal and stay safe!

Hi Shawn, no sir, it is classified as a pistol. No tax stamp needed, it is treated the same as any other pistol. If you want to add a pistol brace, you can, but you can not add a stock. Adding a stock would turn it into a SBR and require registration. Stay safe & have a great day!
