Yes, any AR chambered in 5.56 Also shoots .223. But, not the other way around, .223 chambered cannot shoot 5.56.
yes as a 5.56 rifle it can safely use the lower powered .223 ammo however you can not use 5.56 ammo in a gun made for .223

Bruce, yes sir, any firearm chambered in 5.56 NATO can fire both 223 rem and 5.56 NATO. Now firearms chambered in 223 rem can only fire 223 and not 5.56 because 5.56 has a higher chamber pressure. Hope this helps.
