Hi Steve and welcome. The Slugger is a smoothbore. It has an 18-inch fixed cylinder bore barrel. You can still fire Foster Type Rifled Slugs no issue. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!

Steve, yes sir, this has a smooth bore barrel with a fixed cylinder choke like most shotguns made for defense. So you can safely fire slugs or bird/buck shot threw this. Because it's smooth bore you will get the best accuracy with rifled/foster slugs. The escort slugger came out in 2020 and seems to be one of the better budget minded shotguns available. Most reviews I've read people are happy with their purchase. Next best option would probably be the Maverick 88. Hope this helps.
