yes it can fire slugs with no issues you will find that you get the best accuracy with Foster type (rifled ) slugs which are made to be shot in a smoothbore unlike Sabot slugs which are made for rifled barrels. it is not unusual for double barrel guns (SXS and O/U) barrels to shoot to different points of aim with slugs
