I own a Shield and while it's by far not the greatest trigger, it is bearable. Obviously, it's trainable. If you shoot it enough and condition yourself with the trigger, you wouldn't have issues. Apex does make some a/m triggers I believe should crisp it up.

Yes. the trigger is not very good on the M&P models. I recently bought a m&p in 380 and it does have a hard trigger pull. It is a two stage safety trigger so therefore any gun no matter the make or model that has a two stage safety trigger is going to have a longer reset and a harder pull. The gun is great and if your considering carrying the gun, this trigger is great for that, because it is made to be hard so that it doesn't accidentally go off. Also if you shoot the gun you will realize that once the trigger gets to a certain point it is a hair trigger, hence the name two stage safety trigger. Hope this helps.

I work on a public range and have shot many of these. The triggers vary from poor to excellent. I shot one today that had a good trigger. On a mass produced gun that is affordable and reliable this is what you get. It's a good value and the trigger is better than most.

I have a M&P9c, imagine trigger is similar. Great gun horrible trigger, as is. Actually a really good trigger with some work. The Apex sear is way to light, don't recommend it. Apex safety plunger, good upgrade. Polish the sear, striker and plunger alone will get rid of the grittiness.

I own one, and the first thing I did was get an Apex Tactical trigger installed. The difference is night and day. As far as I am concerned, the Apex trigger is a mandatory upgrade. The stock hinge trigger is just really bad.

I own and love my Shield and have not played with the trigger. My suggestion,for everyday carry, leave the trigger alone. Most people do not really notice the trigger as much as they do as how the gun fits in your hand and other ergonomics. You really don't want to lighten the trigger up to much because if you ever have to use it, you fire the gun accidentally in the excitement of the moment. Plus, if you send the gun for service to S&W, they will remove all the after market goodies to the internals and return to you as the specs are set by S&W. My suggestion, go to a gun range and try it.
