I have used a 12 gauge pump action (ouch) as well as a 6" S&W 686 .357 w/a .357 round (not bad). How would you rank the recoil of a mare's leg in a .44. I've seen the recoil complaints on the .44 handgun and "noncomplaints" on the .44 Henry Carbine. How's the mare's leg? Thanks!

This style gun is more of a Hollywood (Steve McQueen) curiosity than a useful firearm. They are hard to hold and shoot without some pain. I've shot the Mare's Leg in 30-30 and 44 and it wasn't much fun.

Worse then I remembered, you can watch me and others shooting it on YouTube. Apparently it beat my arms up. My in-law is a nut and loves to buy strange guns like this. Glad he does though cause they are fun to shoot!

44 mag has quite the punch. Much less in mares leg version than revolver. Remember, you can opt to feed it 44 special, which has very little recoil in a mares leg. Quite the fun gun. I enjoy mine.
