When a firearm is chambered for 5.56 it can also shoot .223. 5.56 would be the primary caliber here because if this were chambered Only for. 223. Then it could not fire the higher pressured 5.56 cartridge.

Hi Richard, there is no 'primary' caliber. It will shoot both 5.56 and .223, whichever you like. The gun is rated for 5.56, which means it will shoot both calibers. Stay safe & have a great day!
