From what I could find around 2010- 2011 colt sold the same gun under the sportsmans line SP6920 and law enforcement line the Le6920 the sportsman line was dropped and the LE line was kept I found a reference to some of the early LE6920 guns were stamped for Military or Police use only I don't think the later guns are marked
Pre -Model 6920's (6721's) were introduced by Colt just prior to the infamous 1994 A/R Ban, & were only produced a very short time before the ban took effect. These "pre-ban" models had the serial # prefix BD. The 6920 didn't come out until about 1999. Colt would not sell these LE marked guns to the consumer (which were marked "For LE/Military Only", but did not prohibit dealers from selling them to the consumer. The SP6920 was only around for around 3yrs and was dropped by Colt. Current production LE's are now not marked LE/Military due in part to the sunset of the AWB. (This is not the same rifle).
