Guys at my gun club who win all the matches use those older style Leatherwood scopes. They are a fraction of the cost of most scopes. You can get them for less than a third of what a Leopold would cost ($150-$300). And if you are shooting matches, they are all in the daytime so paying for high light transmission like on a Ziess is really just wasted money. And remember, a $100 scope will give you 94% light transmission at 1,000 yards and a $2,500 scope will only give you maybe 97%. Your eyes cannot tell the difference in sunlight. FWIW
