It does not have a forward assist or dust cover. Whether this is a hindrance or not is up to you, the topic has been debated for about 80 years now. It is generally a total non-issue in my experience and most of my rifles do not have one. The single time I have needed and not had one was with a new shooter riding the bolt closed and that just required pushing the BCG forward with one finger by the dust cover cutout.
Hi William and welcome. It does not hinder the weapon. I have many AR's with and without forward assists and have not had to use it once. I also have two Anderson AR's, one in 5.56 and one in .308 and they have been flawless in operation. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
