This model isn't cartridge/bullet weight-specific unlike some of the other VCOG options so you shouldn't have any issue using it with 7.62x39. The VCOG is excellent and very rugged, but my only issue is the price which is why I ended up with my 3 different Vortex Viper PST Gen II 1-6 scopes on different rifles.
