I would go with the longer barrel for accuracy and velocity

Hello Steven, please include the make/model you are referring to so that you can be provided with the best answer possible.

Accuracy is a product of the quality of a barrel and is not tied solely to length. Your primary use of the rifle should dictate the length of the barrel. Mostly defense with occasional target/hunting = 16" & mostly target/hunting with concessional defense = longer barrel.
