It is a little on the heavy side but the ergonomics are right for carrying and more than makes up for the weight. .45 is just extra flavor on the cake in my opinion.. My only complaint on this pistol is the small surface area for racking the slide(not an issue with one in the chamber though).

For a carry weapon I personally would look into another .45. There are so many better options that aren't as heavy. Like James mentioned the slide surface is so small on this firearm which could be an issue if an emergency should arise.

with a Good BELT and Holster combo that fits you well it would be fine for carry it may be a little large for a good ccw weapon during the summer (harder to conceal without printing ) no problems with open carry
