Any AR-15 chambered in 5.56 is absolutely able to shoot .223. Just not the other way around. If it's "Only" chambered for .223 then you can't shoot 5.56.

Hi Ryen and welcome. Since the barrel is stamped 5.56NATO it will shoot bot 5.56 and the lower pressure .223 ammunition no issue. A .223REM Stamped barrel would only be recommended to shoot .223 ammunition. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!

Hi Ryen, this is rated for 5.56, so it will fire both .223 and 5.56 A gun rated for .223 can not safely fire the higher pressure 5.56 round. Stay safe & have a great day!
