Hi James and welcome. This will work no issue out to about 40 yards max. Cheers and stay safe!
Hi James, I would not recommend #2 shot for turkey hunting, especially steel shot. Steel is much lighter than lead and lacks lead shot's killing power and range. I would opt for lead shot or tungsten, nothing larger than #5 (so, 5-6-7-8-9) Tungsten is much denser and heavier than lead—a #7 tungsten pellet weighs more than a much larger #5 lead pellet. A standard 2 ¾-inch or 3-inch magnum tungsten load is more than enough for killing turkeys out past 50 yards. Additionally, the advantages of tungsten shells make 20-gauge shotguns indisputably effective turkey killers, although tungsten loads will cost a bit more than lead. budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/22365/winchester+long+beard+xr+20+ga+3+1-1+4oz+5+10rd+box , . budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/117671/browning+ammo+b193922037+tss+tungsten+20+gauge+3+1+1+2+oz+7+shot+5+bx+10+cs , .
