Yes, every shot. It is a little easier than a regular AR as there is no gas system and hence no need for a buffer spring to pull against, just the trigger reset. As for how to hold it comfortably, I ask that question about every AR pistol and have resolved to buy only rifles. The usual answer is installing a brace that might possibly be used to rest on one's shoulder if they were legally allowed to do that. You can put a hand on the handguard at least.
