It is chambered in 5.56, so it can effectively shoot both 5.56 and .223. If it was chambered in .223 it should not have 5.56 ran through it thanks and be safe!

This model is chambered for the higher pressure 5.56 round so it will fire both .223 & 5.56 ammunition.
