Hi Scott and welcome. The Hogue stock is plenty durable and lies somewhere in between the wood and synthetic in overall durability. That said, I have the Synthetic stock model and it continues to shoot and look excellent even after many, many years of service. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
The hogue is going to feel softer, grippier, heavier. However, the synthetic is likely a bit more durable, especially in regard to leaving solvents in contact with the rubber. Harsh solvents can make it gummy.
Me, I'd go Synthetic stock. I mean, I appreciate Wood furniture but Synthetic seems to be more durable and easier on cleaning.
