yes you can put a rail mounted optic on it. it uses standard 9mm ammo. I would not use a 9mm for deer or hogs at any distance

Hi Donald and welcome. This model is optics ready and it will take 9mm ammunition. There are some high velocity loads capable of taking deer but 9mm is not an optimal deer cartridge. Yeah, you most certainly can add a Red Dot Optic of your choosing.
Now, as far as using 9mm for hunting, that's not going to be something you'd really want to do. There are much better choices for hunting Deer (308, 30-06) Hog (.223, 5.56, 300BLk)
