I have not seen this as a recurring issue. I've seen a lot of people not have the thumb strength to operate certain slide stops though. This was something we had to test on store for my wife and ruled out quite a few models. I would think that the springs are probably pretty tight being a new gun too. I'd give it a go without concern! Best of luck!
