It depends on the length of the barrel and the type of ammunition you are shooting (I am assuming you are talking about something chambered in 5.56). Personally, I am partial to 1/7 twist barrels as they will properly stabilize 77 grain rounds out of a 14.5in barrel, whereas said rounds would likely keyhole out of a 1/9 twist barrel of equal length. That being said, if all you are shooting is M193 55 grain rounds, 1/9 twist will work fine.

A primary factor is your bullet weight - assuming AR-15. The question may be are you going to primarily shoot the cheaper 55 grain bullets, the more expensive 62 grain bullets or the even more expensive 77 grain bullets. That may determine the 'best' answer for you. There is no AR correct twist rate for all.

It depends on what bullet weight you intend to use regularly. If you wish to shoot all weights then the 1:8 twist rate is where you want to go. It will stabilize everything and be the most accurate on average with all of the weights.
