yes it is one of the strongest 45long cots on the market the other being the freedom arms 45 SAA infact many reloading manuals have a section for hot 45lc rounds just for the blackhawk the ruger vaquero is smaller and not as strong i shoot this gun except mine is blued not stainless

Hi Dennis and welcome. All Ruger handguns are proofed at 40% over max load. The large frame .45 Colt and the .44Mag BH/SBH our built on the same frame. Cylinder size is the same. The only thing different is the size of the holes. It will live with hol loads. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
