Hi James, the manual is very vague.  From the Cimarron FAQ page - "We recommend that you shoot only standard over the counter ammunition that meet SAMMI specifications,  Shooting any ammo like +P or reloads will void the warranty on the gun."

They are a cowboy gun. The ammo should be appropriate.  Only regular 45 Colt.
