If it is a slight ding its not uncommon on 1911s its usually caused by the slide of the gun hitting the ejected case during recoil look for marks on the top of the guns slide
Hi Herbert, on some 1911's it it common. Especially more when rapid firing due to the slide hitting the case as it ejects.
As long as it's not bulging I wouldn't worry. Some guns are just rough on ejection.
This is not a normal occurrence for a 1911 or any pistol if the cases are flattened beyond the ability to reload. There is an issue with the magazine follower angle more than likely. I would try a different magazine of good quality to see if the results change. If not, I would contact ATI for a resolution at customerservice@americantactical.us or 800-290-0065.
