Is this the correct ammo for an H & R revolver that is marked .38 S & W on the barrel? I recently acquired this firearm and know absolutely nothing about it. Also, this ammo says ".38 S & W Short Colt. What does the wording "Short Colt" infer? Thanks!

Yes, I'm assuming it is most likely one of H&R's top-break revolvers. The Short Colt name differentiates it further from the older.38 Long Colt and newer .38 Special which are both different non-interchangeable cartridges.
