Hi Mack, Bud's will collect any sales tax on behalf of the state in which you reside. The FFL will charge you a transfer fee. This fee is for his time spent filling out paperwork and running the back ground check. The transfer fee is set buy the FFL and can be anywhere from $15 to $100, so call and ask what the fee is before your buy. Also, depending on the state you live in, there could be another fee for the background check. (or there may be no such fee in your state). Here in NJ, there is a $16 fee for the background check, my FFL charges $40 for the transfer fee, so the total for me is $56. Stay safe & have a great day!

Yeah, the Background check Fee can vary from state to state. I thought our New $9.00 fee by NY state was bad!! Sorry to hear Ed's state of NJ rips off people even worse!! The Transfer fees the FFL's charge also varies. My FFL charges $35 for long guns & $40 for pistols plus the $9.00 NY Fee. One FFL in my area charges $80+NY state Fee!!!

Hi Mac and welcome. Buds collects sales tax on behalf of your State. Your local FFL will charge a transfer/paperwork fee usually $30 to $45 depending on the FFL. You may want to contact a few local FFL's to see who has the lowest fee. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
