I want to add a flashlight to this shotgun but there is little room up front to add a rail or anything. I do not want the flashlight on top but rather on the side of the barrel without removing the heat shield. Any thoughts or product recommendations? Thank you-Andy

I have a Mossberg 500 with the following:  Elzetta Shotgun Mount and a Surefire G2X Pro Flashlight, Dual Output LED | Weatherproof 320 Lumen Ultra Tough Flashlight.  This set up allows the light to be placed on either side and in front of the forward hand-guard. Whether you shoot left or right handed, the push-button control is easily accessible.
