Seems that MagPul may be right. The Mossberg 590 and 590S are both pump-action shotguns, but the 590S has some design changes that make it more flexible and versatile: Shotshell length The 590S can use 1.75 in, 2.75 in, or 3 in shotshells, and you can load any combination of these lengths. Shorter shell lengths increase the 590S's capacity. Optic-ready The 590S has an optics mount plate that works with micro concealed carry sights, and you can also mount a traditional rail on top. Sights The 590S has ghost-ring rear sights and a blade front sight, which some say make it easier to acquire your target. The 590S also has a redesigned elevator and bolt slide, an energy-absorbing bumper, and standard features like dual extractors, twin action bars, and ambidextrous safety.
Hi Chuck, I'm sure MagPul should know their own products, but there seems to be a contradictory response from Mossberg. Mossberg says otherwise - "Thank you for inquiring with us today. The 590S stock is compatible with the same stocks that are compatible with all the 590, 590A1, 500, and maverick firearms within gauge. So yes the "SGA STOCK -MOSSBERG 500/590/590A1" will fit the 590s" So do you believe MagPul or Mossberg? It may be true that the forend on the 590S is different, but the stock should work.
Hi Chuck and welcome. I would check the return policy of wherever you purchase just in case things don't actually work out. Buds has a 10 day return policy. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
